The Southbank Centre is hosting a special reading to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Chinua Achebe’s classic masterpiece Things Fall Apart.
The reading will be performed by African authors and artists including Adesua Etomi, Chibundu Onuzo, Ben Okri and Lucian Msamati and has been specially abridged by Ellah Wakatama Allfrey. The event is directed by Femi Elufowoju Jr.
Things Fall Apart is a searing examination of a traditional Nigerian society fracturing under colonial rule. Having sold over 12 million copies in over 50 languages, the novel has inspired generations of authors, artists and musicians, from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie to Kendrick Lamar, and is undoubtedly considered to be one of the greatest books ever written.
The reading will take place in Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre on 15 April at 2pm. Tickets are £20. For more information and booking click here.
