Black History Month is upon us once more, and as ever there are an array of events happening across the UK.
Of the 1,000 or so passengers that were on board the Empire Windrush, 257 were women and 188 of them travelled alone, but curiously their presence are mostly missing from the Windrush narrative.
One of several events to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Windrush is Windrush Women: Past and Present on 25 June at the British Library and hosted by Wasafiri, A evening celebrating women writers from the Windrush era and their legacy.
